2022 in the tech industry is a battle of titans for NVIDIA and AMD. These two company is known for their Graphics Processing Unit(GPU) with the release of their all-new powerful GPUs this year.
On the blue corner, we have NVIDIA, the inventor of GPU, which creates interactive graphics on a laptop, workstations, mobile devices, and more. With its new release RTX 4090, last October 2022, a GPU with a max memory size of 24GB, memory type of GDDR6X, NVIDIA CUDA cores of 16,384, and 3rd generation ray tracing. And on the red corner, we have the AMD (Advanced Micro Devices), The world’s most advanced processor, combining CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and deep software expertise. With its RX7900 XTX upcoming release this December 2022, A memory of 24GB, memory type of GDDR6, stream processor of 6144, and boost frequency of up to 2500MHz.
Now that we know the two contenders, how about the price for each unit? For NVIDIA RTX 4090 the price is 1,599 USD, and for AMD RX 7900 XTX it is 999 USD.
So, is it worth it to buy a Graphic Processing Unit as expensive as those two?
Maybe yes and maybe not for some. The price of these GPUs is not a joke, as you can build a brand-new PC with that price. However, the experience that you will get when you try one of these may be worth a buy for others. Especially for gamers that want that ultimate quality experience when gaming and those who are into eSports, which has a market value of $1.22 billion for 2021 and is expected to increase to 1.44 billion dollars by the end of 2022 this is a good upgrade especially when they compete in the world tournament. But what about those people who don’t want an expensive GPU? Well… This is also a good opportunity for them since when these powerful graphics cards are released there’s a high chance that the old graphics card would lower their price. Who knows, Maybe the money that you are saving for GPU will now be available at a lower price.
Although there are many people who travel to different countries just so they can get their hands on these new GPUs others might wait in line for hours or even a day just so they can get their hands on them, and those online shoppers who refresh the website of sellers every second so they can click the buy button and don’t get left out with “out of stock” or “sold out” webpage.
Either way, having these two newly developed powerful Graphic Processing Units is another achievement in the tech world or industry. We’ve come a long way, 23 years ago, in 1999, the first GPU was released by the NVIDIA company name Geforce 256. Announced on August 31, 1999, released on October 11, 1999, and marketed as “the world’s first “GPU”.
All I can say is, choose whatever you want, either RTX 4090, RX 7900XTX, or even those that are not in the high-end price. The best thing about it is we are happy and enjoying the GPUs we have.
